WHAT IS A POSTPARTUM DOULA?

A postpartum doula provides evidenced based information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother–baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. A postpartum doula is there to help the new family in those first days and weeks so you can ease into parenthood. Whether it's your first baby, or 5th, infant care is always changing and it's our job to keep up on all of the newest information.

At the beginning of each shift, We assess what needs are most important to Mom on that specific day. Does she need a good meal? A nap? A lesson on baby-wearing? Mom’s priorities are the doula’s priorities. Every mother is different and everyday is different. We're there to support you and your family!

Whether you need one week of help to get up on your feet, or several weeks to truly get the groove of this mamahood thing we are here to help. Our postpartum doulas offer personalized and professional services ensuring you and your family are off to a great start. Our team is available for nighttime or daytime shifts.

As a postpartum doula, we're there for mom's happiness and health as well as the baby's. A postpartum doula can help you process your birth experience by allowing you to share frustrations, concerns, and any other overwhelming feelings that may surface. Embracing your new identity with the help of a doula will ease the transition of your new role. Postpartum doulas have also been trained to identify perinatal mood disorders such as postpartum depression, and have referrals on hand. 

The goal of a postpartum doula is to work themselves out of the job. To teach new families how to care for a newborn, and integrate them into their lives. It's our goal that at the end of our contract you have learned all that you need to continue on as a happy, healthy family.
